State-level real estate regulator MahaRERA approved 10,379 projects in FY26. Nearly 53 per cent of those projects were in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and about 34 per cent in Pune.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) accounted for 52.5 per cent of the total 10,379 projects that the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) cleared in the financial year ended March 31. The region -- which includes Greater Mumbai and its adjoining suburbs including Navi Mumbai, Thane, Vasai Virar and Kalyan-Dombivli -- saw approvals of 5,494 projects.

District-wise data showed that Pune saw the maximum number of project approvals, at 3,150. Pune is the second largest district by area in the state, after Ahmednagar. The MMR spans across several districts, including Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane and Palghar.

Out of the 10,379 approved housing projects, 4,204 projects received registration numbers, 2,488 underwent corrections and 3,687 projects were granted timeline extensions, according to an official statement.

With the 5,494 projects approved, the MMR topped the charts in terms of regional distribution, followed by Pune (3,566), Vidarbha (563), Khandesh (520) and Marathwada (203).
