AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Monday announced new rules for operating ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants within city limits. Now on, permission will be mandatory to operate an on-site or off-site RMC plant. Off-site RMC mandatory to operate an on-site or off-site RMC plant. Off-site RMC commercial zones. Off-site RMC plants (commercial) will no longer be permitted in residential and commercial zones.
Permission for these will only be granted in industrial, general agricultural, prime agricultural, and logistical zones. On-site plants will only be allowed on a construction site's final plot. AMC decided to relocate RMC plants out of residential areas on May 22, to reduce air pollution, giving them a two-month deadline.
